SHAH ALAM:
The Selangor branch of the domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism ministry (KPDNKK) seized 4,137 units of toys worth RM34,555 in a raid on a premises at Mutiara Damansara last Friday.

Its chief enforcement officer Azman Adam said the 12.30pm raid followed public complaints of toys sold at the premises suspected of non-compliance with the Malaysian Conformity (MC) standard.

“The inspection found that MC stickers affixed to each of the toys did not follow specifications, and nearly 80% of the toy items sold had the same serial number,” he told a media conference here yesterday.

Azman said every toy sold should be affixed with the MC logo as evidence that they are certified safe for children, and every manufacturer and importer of toys is required to test the product first at an accredited laboratory before the items are marketed.
