The chief registrar of the Federal Court Latifah Mohd Tahar said the e-lelong system was launched on a pioneer basis and four engagement sessions had been held and attended by Mustafa as president of the Malaysian Auctioneers Council.
The four engagement sessions were held on Nov 28, 2015, March 1, 2016, June 23, 2016 and Feb 16, 2017.
The interested parties concerned that attended included the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Bar Council of Malaysia. representatives of financial institutions and licensed auctioneers representatives, the Malaysian Auctioneers Council and state auctioneers associations.
Latifah said the PKPMP had always recognised the assistance provided by the licensed auctioneers which had helped the court previously.
But in line with modernisation and digital technology, the implementation of the e-lelong system was a necessity in the interest of the people as a whole.
Latifah was commenting on an online news portal’s report yesterday where Mustafa had said the proposed electronic platform to auction off foreclosed property was drawn up without proper consultation with stakeholders.
