Kit Siang tight-lipped over contesting in GE14

The 77-year-old DAP parliamentary leader, who had a fall recently, says he has not decided if he wants to defend his Gelang Patah seat.

Lim-Kit-Siang
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has declined to reveal whether he will defend his Gelang Patah parliamentary seat in the coming general election (GE14).

He said he had not decided if he will be contesting in the polls.

“I do not know whether the coming general election is going to be my last battle or whether I should even take part in it.

“In fact, I had a fall, so we will see,” he told reporters at Parliament’s Media Centre today.

The 77-year-old politician was seen with a small plaster on his right side of his forehead. His right cheek had a blue-black discolouration.

Lim had a fall in the toilet at his Gelang Patah home on March 1.

On Dec 19, Lim underwent surgery to remove a small tumour in his left kidney.

The tumour was discovered during a medical check-up, he said.

Biopsy tests on the small tumour disclosed that it was a Stage 1(a) cancer, the lowest grade cancer possible.

Lim trumped Umno candidate and former Johor menteri besar Abdul Ghani Othman in GE13, wresting the Gelang Patah seat with a 14,762-vote majority.
