German on business trip found dead in hotel room

Police have found no criminal elements and classified the case as sudden death.

BUTTERWORTH:
A 56-year-old German man on a business trip here was found dead in his hotel room in Seberang Jaya this morning.

He was identified as Ralf Der, who was employed by a company called LPKF Laser and Electronics AG.

According to Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid, a staff member of the Seberang Jaya Hospital called the local police station at 8.20am about the German’s death at the hotel.

Nik Ros Azhan said in a statement the German had come to Malaysia for work and stayed at the hotel since Feb 24.

“He was last seen alive by his friend about 4pm on March 3,” he added.

The police forensics department swept the hotel room where Der stayed but found no criminal elements.

The body has been taken to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem.

Police classified the case as sudden death.
