He said in implementing its rationalisation plan, 1MDB was settling all its debts.
“Based on the recommendations made in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report, the landed assets have been transferred to the Minister of Finance Incorporated.
“This means 1MDB may be regarded as a holding company and is no longer an active company.
“1MDB was established with good intentions but it later received brickbats, was slandered and criticised. So, from the start, it has been difficult to operate.”
On Tuesday, treasury secretary-general Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, who also chairs 1MDB, had said the company would be shut down after all of its debts were settled, adding that this could be achieved with its current rationalisation plan.
Last year, Prime Minister Najib Razak said 1MDB, which owes some RM50 billion as of January 2016, had cleared all its bank and short-term debts.

Annuar said that with all the slander, there was no point in carrying on with the business and as such, a business decision, not a political decision, had to be made.
