PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) will contest under the logo of one of its four member parties if the Registrar of Societies (RoS) fails to approve its application for registration, says PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

However, Mahathir who is also PH chairman, said the pact had yet to decide which logo would be used in the 14th general election (GE14).

“We will use the symbol of one of the four parties as our logo. The party that is chosen then must agree to allow all parties to use its symbol.

“All four parties are ready to allow their logos to be used, unless the RoS becomes generous. (They are) frightened of us, that is why they haven’t approved (our application),” the former prime minister, who is PH’s prime ministerial candidate, said at a press conference here today.

He said the least the RoS could do was to respond to PH.

“RoS has yet to answer any of our letters or our court case. We hope by Thursday the court will be able to give us some insight into the refusal of RoS to give us any answer.

“In the meantime, we have decided to use one logo in the upcoming GE14. This is our decision, that all parties will use that same logo.

“Whether RoS approves our logo or not, we will use only one logo as our identity.”

The four-party coalition is made up of PKR, DAP, PPBM and Amanah.

RoS had cited PPBM’s failure to hold its first annual general meeting, as well as DAP’s problems over its central executive committee as reasons for the delay.

PPBM has since held its annual general assembly, while RoS has also recognised DAP’s top leadership line-up.

PH submitted its application to be registered with the RoS last July and wrote several letters concerning the status of its application, but has yet to hear from the department.
