The National Patriots Association (Patriot) said it “abhorred” Raja Petra’s “unsubstantiated opinion pieces” which appeared to be based on several photos of Kuok’s nephew, James, dining with some politicians.
“Who dined with and donated to whom is not of our concern as long as it is in the confines of the law.
“But to spew fake news, hatred, instigate distrust with intent to divide the people – we Patriots will speak up for the common good of our people and country,” its president Brig-Gen (Rtd) Mohamed Arshad Raji said in a statement.
He added that the manner in which the articles were written was “one of a master propagandist with an evil intent”.
Raja Petra had also claimed that Kuok had an agenda to replace Malaysia’s leadership with DAP, so that the Chinese could be in power.
Arshad said these allegations had been used by politicians to fan racial sentiments and cause more hatred and confusion.
He added that two months ago, Raja Petra had also published “an outright lie” about the group receiving millions from former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad through Ghani Patail.
“Patriot again calls on all politicians to commit to clean politicking, to campaign on issues, and not to employ dirty campaigns to divide the people.”
Otherwise, he warned, given the global economic situation, once the general election was over, Malaysia would be “doomed” if it did not stand united.
