
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Abdul Wahib Musa said the incident occurred while Tan Chi Ann, 46, was walking towards her home in Taman BCB, Yong Peng, after visiting her mother.
“She was found in a pool of blood (by a passer-by) about 1am.
“There was a motorcycle, sling bag strap and a pair of slippers at the scene but the bag was believed to have been taken by the suspect(s),” he said in a statement here today.
According to Wahib, Tan succumbed to her injuries at Pantai Hospital, Batu Pahat.
An initial medical examination revealed that she had died of stab wounds to her chest, he added.
He said the victim would go to her mother’s house, located nearby, on a daily basis to cook after she returned from work.
