The Perak PAS secretary has been placed in the intensive care unit of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh.
According to Selinsing state assemblyman Husin Din, he had fallen in his bathroom about 10am and was found by his wife who had just returned from work.
Husin said Zawawi was rushed by his wife to the Taiping Hospital and then transferred to the hospital in Ipoh about 3pm.
He added that Zawawi suffered from high blood pressure.
The incident comes just a day after Paya Besar BN MP Abdul Manan Ismail fell in a bathroom at his home in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
He was buried at the Klang Gates Muslim Cemetery today.
The Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, expressed sadness over his death at the age of 70.
“It is a big loss. He was loyal to the ruler and leaders… someone who was very concerned about the people. Allah loves him more,” Tengku Abdullah said after conveying his condolences to Manan’s family today.
Manan had occupied the Paya Besar seat in Pahang since the general election of March 2008.
Manan was also the Malaysian Intellect Property Corporation (MyIPO) chairman and had served as special private secretary to Prime Minister Najib Razak from 1986 to 2004.
