
He said as such, PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad should not blame RoS for the delay in approving the registration of Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“RoS has acted professionally and they have no interest in any political organisation,” he told reporters after chairing a special committee meeting to address congestion at the Johor Causeway and Linkedua here today.
Zahid, who is also home minister, said as a leader who had led the government, Mahathir should be aware that the function of the RoS was to administer and enforce the Societies Act 1966 and to ensure that societies or political associations conducted their activities based on their registered rules.
“The ignorance is on their part as they had sent delegates who were not elected at division level to the annual general meeting and division representatives were not elected at branch level,” he said.
On the DAP central executive committee (CEC) re-election on Nov 12, which had complied with all the requirements as directed by RoS, he said a letter had been issued to the DAP CEC yesterday.
“This letter is to confirm that DAP had complied with RoS directives and as a political party had followed the rules, as set in the party’s constitution,” he said.
Earlier, it was reported that internal issues with PPBM and DAP were among reasons for delays in approving PH’s registration.
