SHAH ALAM: PAS has given Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali until Feb 17 to release state development funds to PAS assemblymen.

Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi warned that the party will take action in case Azmin, who is Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman, does not quickly resolve the matter.

Media reports said several Selangor PAS assemblymen were forking out money from their own pockets to fund various activities for their constituents, pending the disbursement of their RM800,000 annual allocation from the state government.

A NST report had quoted Paya Jaras assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman as saying he had so far spent RM45,000 of his own money to provide daily assistance to his constituents.

“It is quite normal to wait until the end of January for us to receive the annual allocation. So far, I have only heard rumours about the freeze but I have not seen any official document on it,” he had said.

Before this, Sallehen had been reported as saying he was informed by a state Economic Planning Unit officer that PAS assemblymen would be excluded from receiving the funds but had not received any official letter on the matter.

Azmin had, however, denied any such freeze and blamed technical problems for the delay in disbursing the allocations.

Sallehen today said Selangor PAS was part of the state government and wanted to meet Azmin to hear his explanation.

“However, until now we have not been able to meet the menteri besar as he is busy but will still try to see him.”
