NILAI: Two traders would be charged at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court on Feb 21 with selling fake milk.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Hamzah Zainudin said there was sufficient evidence, including the chemist’s report to press charges.

Last December, the ministry’s office in Johor Bahru seized 210 boxes of suspected fake infant formula worth RM42,000 at five locations in the state.

The minister spoke to reporters after visiting the Malaysia Halal Analysis Centre here today.

Hamzah was also asked to comment on any seizure of premix coffee that landed several men in Penang Hospital on Jan 31.

He said the ministry had not received any detailed report on the contents of the coffee.

“We don’t want to make any assumptions. When there is enough evidence, we will take appropriate action,” he said.
