Speaking at a forum last night on #UndiRosak, the hashtag used by campaigners as a platform to express unhappiness with the election candidates, Maryam Lee said she had not initially planned to support the movement.
Lee, who has registered to vote in the 14th general election (GE14), said she was only supporting the campaign as she was disappointed with PH for accepting PPBM.
“I don’t want Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be the next prime minister,” she said, adding that she only supports PSM now.
“PSM is the only party that has genuinely worked for the people.”
Lee added that there was a growing awareness of the issue now as the campaign had reached many youths through social media.

“More people now support the hashtag, with most of the followers said to be from Kuala Lumpur. This is because the campaign is more city-centric,” she said after the forum.
Lee is also part of a coalition called Left Coalition, which she said had drawn up its own manifesto. The manifesto is against all forms of discrimination, race-based parties and authoritarian figures, and supports environmental causes.
Other panellists at the forum last night were PPBM Youth leader Ashraf Mustaqim and Selangor DAP committee member Edry Faisal.
Lawyer Syahredzan Johan moderated the session.
Some participants disagreed with the #UndiRosak campaign, saying that voters should consider carefully which party they want as the next government instead of spoiling their votes.
Lee said however that the campaign was not to impose any of its beliefs on voters, only to ask unhappy voters to teach the opposition pact a lesson.
“Spoiling your votes is exercising your voting rights and telling PH and BN that we don’t like the both of you,” she said.
What #UndiRosak really shows: immaturity and self-centredness
