The video has gone viral on social media.
Perak Tengah district police chief Supt Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said police would also be calling another individual, in his 20s, who is believed to be the actor’s friend, for allegedly recording the act on July 26, 2016.
He said police had recorded a statement from a 70-year-old man, who is also the actor’s uncle and the owner of the firearm, yesterday.
“Investigations revealed that the licensed holder was shooting at a monkey behind his house, which is in an oil palm plantation, at the time of the recording.
“However, the actor was said to have taken the shotgun and fired twice in the air,” he told a press conference at the Perak Tengah district police headquarters here today.
It is learnt that the 30-year-old actor is expected to turn up at the district police headquarters today to have his statement recorded.
Police were looking for two individuals, including the actor, spotted in the video after it went viral on YouTube three days ago.
Zainal said initial investigations also revealed that the shotgun owner had the licence for the past 30 years to shoot wild animals in the area.
“Allowing unlicensed individuals to use firearms and firing in unauthorised places are both offences,” he said.
Zainal also said police had seized the SK 500 shotgun, 29 shells and a licence book to facilitate investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 8, 39 and 41 of the Arms Act 1960, he added.
