The incident was believed to have happened during a spat between the victim’s mother and her 50-year-old lover in their rented room at Jalan Oya here about 10pm yesterday.
The case was reported to the police by Sibu Hospital at 3.25am today after the medical staff there found signs of abuse on the girl when she was admitted to the hospital’s Accident and Trauma Unit.
Following the report, police detained the man.
Sibu police chief ACP Zailanni Amit confirmed the incident and the arrest.
