PUTRAJAYA:
A whistleblower group representing Felda settlers today threatened to expose issues surrounding the agency if the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) failed to investigate the controversial transfer of ownership of its land on Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur.

The vocal Persatuan Anak Peneroka Felda Kebangsaan (Anak) said it was prepared to reveal more wrongdoings in Felda over the last four years.

“They will be revealed soon. We are preempting you now. The Jalan Semarak land case is only one of the issues with Felda,” Anak president Mazlan Aliman said after lodging a report with the anti-graft body here.

Without going into details, Mazlan said there were a dozen controversial investments involving Felda Investment Cooperation (FIC).

“They have yet to be revealed,” he said.

He said there were also abuses linked to abandoned housing projects meant for second-generation Felda settlers.

Mazlan earlier handed over a memorandum to MACC, accompanied by Amanah Youth deputy chief Faiz Fadzil.

They questioned the anti-graft commission for dismissing elements of corruption in the Jalan Semarak land issue before a proper investigation.

“Investigations should have been carried out before any decision is reached,” he said, and repeated calls for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate Felda during the tenure of its former chairman, Isa Samad.

Last week, Berita Harian reported that Felda risked losing ownership of its land on Jalan Semarak, which is believed to have a market value of about RM1 billion, following a “dubious” transfer of the land title involving some RM200 million two years earlier.

Following this, MACC said it found no element of graft or abuse of power in its probe, adding that it had to do with weak management and breach of trust.

Faiz however urged MACC to press ahead with its investigation.

“Do not close the file as the investigations have not been completed. Isa has said that he has not been called to MACC.

“How do you make the conclusion that investigations were carried out when the most important witness has not been investigated?

“How did MACC then decide that there was no element of corruption in the case?”

He added that MACC must also investigate Prime Minister Najib Razak as he was in charge of Felda.

“He had known about this issue since February this year. Why did he not order investigations at that time?” he asked.

“I ask Najib to come to MACC and have your statement recorded.”
