GEORGE TOWN: Veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang is recovering following a surgery to remove a cancerous tumour last week, his son Lim Guan Eng said.

Guan Eng said the surgery on Dec 19 was to remove a small tumour in his father’s left kidney.

The tumour was discovered during a medical check-up, he said.

“Biopsy tests on the small tumour disclosed that it was a Stage 1(a) cancer, the lowest grade cancer possible,” said Guan Eng.

He said Kit Siang was recuperating well and “has begun to take walks”.

In his absence, Kit Siang’s aide Ng Siam Luang and Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong will take over the DAP’s stalwart’s constituency duties in Gelang Patah.
