A statement posted on the society’s Facebook page last night said the university had ordered the suspension on Oct 30 following some alleged irregularities in its administration.
It said as a result, the Student Affairs Department had suspended the society’s 2017/18 annual general meeting as well as its activities planned for the first semester of 2017/18.
“The executive committee has submitted an appeal letter to the school authorities and has approached the school authorities on several occasions, including the vice-chancellor of the student affairs office but the appeal was not accepted,” the statement addressed to the society members said.
It added that the committee deeply regretted the matter and would seek an end to the suspension so that activities could resume as normal.
