PETALING JAYA:
The CEO of a federal government-linked company (GLC) in Penang who is accused of giving projects to an engineering firm he is apparently still involved with has said the allegation is nothing new.

JKP Sdn Bhd CEO Samrulzaman K Mohideen said the accusation by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution was an “old story”.

“But I reserve my comments for now. I will discuss with my company on further actions,” Samrulzaman told Malaysiakini.

He was commenting on a press conference by Saifuddin earlier today where the PKR leader claimed that Samrulzaman was also a former director of engineering firm, SSJ Engineering Consultancy.

Saifuddin claimed SSJ Engineering had made RM3 million from projects it obtained from JKP.

Saifuddin had also said that although Samrulzaman had relinquished his directorship from the engineering firm in 2005, he was still signing cheques on behalf of the firm until today.

“There is a clear conflict of interest,” he had said.

Saifuddin also said the signed cheques and the dates of the transactions between JKP and SSJ Engineering were in his possession and more details would be revealed soon.

He had urged the GLC to clarify the matter.
