The organisation said regardless of political affiliation, all potential candidates for the 14th general election (GE14) should make a full public disclosure of assets upon assuming office and at regular fixed intervals thereafter.
“Asset declaration should be done voluntarily and not seen to be in exchange for any political campaign funds.
“An effective and useful asset declaration system would allow the public to have access to the information submitted by the politicians, as is done in many democratic mature societies to varying degrees,” it said in a statement.
On Sunday, 30 representatives from PKR, Amanah and PAS pledged to sign a contract with PKR-linked Invoke to declare their assets for GE14.
Twenty of them were from PKR, nine from Amanah and one from PAS.
Anyone violating the pledge or betraying the party can be fined RM20 million.
TI-M said information on cash savings, valuable movable assets and beneficial ownership of property and businesses should be included in the asset declaration system and verified by the relevant enforcement agencies.
It added that such a system would go a long way to achieving transparency and integrity in politics.
