He said the party’s meeting with RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim earlier today was positive and encouraging.
He said it was given time to present a proposal to resolve the issue of its failure to hold any AGMs at its central and divisional levels since its registration was approved last year.
The former deputy prime minister thanked the RoS for giving the party the chance to clarify its situation, adding that PPBM would hand in the proposal within a week.
He said they would then meet again to consider a suitable course of action.
“We took the opportunity to clarify our status since our founding till the present,” he said, adding the party was still in the process of developing its divisions and branches.
“I informed them that we are in our formative stage, that PPBM’s organisation is not complete and the process is ongoing,” he added.
“Because of that, we sought the RoS’ understanding,” he told reporters after the meeting at the RoS headquarters here.
The meeting, which lasted about 90 minutes, was also attended by PPBM deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir and secretary-general Shaharuddin Md Salleh.
Muhyiddin added the party was not likely to lose the right to use its logo in the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).
“We hope it does not reach that stage. There seemed to be an understanding reached at the meeting.”
He added that PPBM needed to implement certain provisions in its constitution.
Muhyiddin said while the RoS agreed to assist PPBM in resolving the matter, the party would comply with all directives, especially on its constitution and legal requirements pertaining to its registration.
He urged members to remain calm, saying he believed the problem would be settled.
PPBM has thus far set up 136 divisions across the country.
On Nov 17, Surayati had said that the PPBM leadership needed to know its party regulations.
Even Umno, which forms part of the ruling Barisan Nasional, was deregistered in 1988 for not following party regulations, she said.
She reiterated the warning given earlier this month that PPBM might be deregistered if it did not resolve several issues related to the naming of its youth and women’s wings in its constitution.
She had also said the party’s failure to conduct the necessary AGMs with the minimum required quorum could also contribute to it being deregistered.
Muhyiddin said yesterday PPBM will adhere to all instructions from RoS.
This included not using the word “Armada” to refer to its youth wing, he said.
Instead, he said the party would use the term “PPBM Youth” to refer to the movement until the RoS approved its application to amend the party’s constitution to use the term “Armada”.
