KUANTAN: Almost 99% of anonymous tips received by the Pahang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) are inaccurate.

Pahang MACC operations deputy director Ab Munien Ibrahim said most of the anonymous complaints “were based on suspicion, dissatisfaction among subordinate staff and happened when there was a promotion exercise in the department”.

He advised the public, particularly civil servants, against sending anonymous complaints to the agency to avoid creating a negative impact.

He warned that inaccurate complaints could create an atmosphere of disharmony and misunderstanding as many were based on personal views.

“We will investigate if there is basis in the allegation,” he told a press conference after the corruption-free pledge (IBR) ceremony by the Pahang Farmers’ Organisation here today.
