GEORGE TOWN: Bring it on, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom said today over a report that controversial lawyer Siti Zabedah Kasim had threatened to sue him over “slanderous” remarks today.

Siti Kasim, had told Jamil to stop linking her to those who make statements against Islam.

In a Bernama report last night, Jamil had said an investigation paper was opened by religious authorities in the Federal Territory against Siti.

“Never mind … if she wants to sue me, I will take it,” Jamil said in a short comment when met by reporters after he attended a function at a hotel in Bayan Lepas here today.

Jamil said Siti was being investigated by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department.

“An investigation paper has been opened and the person concerned has been summoned,” Jamil, the minister in charge of Islamic affairs, was quoted as saying.

He said this in response to a question raised by a participant at a convention on Empowering the Ummah Agenda 3.0 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

In the same report, Jamil also stated that action was taken against “Raja Bomoh” Ibrahim Mat Zin, who was required by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council to attend religious classes.

Taking to Facebook today, Siti said Jamil should immediately “cease and desist” from issuing slanderous statements.

“The minister can be assured that he will be receiving a letter from me soon,” she said.

Siti was charged last July with obstructing a Jawi officer during a raid at a transgender event last year.
