Arresting officer Husny Hussein, who is attached to the Sepang police district, said he was informed by police at klia2 that the Vietnamese accused, Doan Thi Huong, was seen at the airport on Feb 15.
“I recognised her from her bright blue pouch and black and white-striped shoes from the airport’s CCTV recording on Feb 13, showing a man ‘attacked’ by two women at the airport.
“She was using the same pouch and wore the same shoes as shown in the CCTV when my officers brought her to me from the klia2 police station,” he told the High Court here.
When asked by Doan’s lawyer Hisyam Teh what was the reason the Vietnamese returned to the scene of the crime so soon, Husny could not provide the answers.
Hisyam: I put it to you that she went to klia2 to meet ‘Mr Y’ and do another video ‘prank’?
Husny: I do not know.
Hisyam: She could not find ‘Mr Y’ anywhere in the airport (klia2) that day (Feb 15) and even failed to contact him, which made her leave the airport and return to Sky Star Hotel?
Husny: I do not know.
Husny said he was aware that klia2 officers had earlier nabbed Doan when she came out from a car, later identified to be a ride she had booked on the Uber e-hailing app.
Mr Y was identified as North Korean national Ri Ji Hyon and was one of the four individuals still at large and wanted for questioning over Jong Nam’s death.
Doan’s other lawyer Salim Bashir also asked Husny if he agreed that it was not logical for someone to return to the crime scene and even carry the same accessories after she had allegedly killed someone, two days before.
“I do not agree”, Husny said.
Doan and Indonesian Siti Aisyah are charged with killing Jong Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un, on Feb 13.
Jong Nam, the eldest son of former North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, arrived in Malaysia on Feb 6, and was at klia2 to board a 9am flight to Macau on the day he was killed.
He died on the way to Putrajaya Hospital, sparking a diplomatic row between Putrajaya and Pyongyang.
During the opening statement on Oct 2, the prosecution said it would prove that the two women approached Jong Nam at the airport’s departure hall and sprayed VX nerve agent on his eyes and face.
Prosecutors told the court the actions of Siti Aisyah and Doan showed that they intended to cause Jong Nam’s death.
The hearing continues on Nov 27 before Justice Azmi Ariffin.
