PETALING JAYA: Actor and road activist Lando Zawawi has claimed his move to chain and lock the gate of the Petaling district land office in Section U5, Shah Alam, last Thursday, was merely an “acting stunt”.

In a video, lasting two minutes and 35 seconds, posted on his Facebook today, he said the action of “chaining” the gate was meant to send a message to the authorities to do their job and fix the pothole problem which had been plaguing motorists in the Persiaran Atmosfera, Shah Alam, area for six years.

“I am a scriptwriter and director. This is the way I present my message to the authorities to make them understand the problem.

“I had asked permission from the land office security guards twice.

“Check the CCTV recordings and you can see me going in and speaking to them,” he said, referring to the security cameras in the building.

It was reported that Lando, whose real name is Azlan Sani Zawawi, along with his pregnant wife and friend, were arrested at the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters last Friday after giving their statements to police.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat had said the three were being investigated for wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation.

In a text message to FMT, he said Lando, his wife and a friend were released on a police bond yesterday evening.

He added the police will refer the investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) tomorrow.

Lando claimed he had only chained the land office’s gate for 45 seconds.

“It is a baseless accusation to say that I had wrongfully confined (those in the premises) and that I was a threat,” he said.

The actor later told FMT that he was informed that the police investigation against him had been completed.

“If the police need anything more, they will call me up,” he said.

Azlan gained fame in 2014 when he and his biker friends started patching potholes and sinkholes around Kuala Lumpur.

They called themselves Ikatan Silaturrahim Brotherhood and said whatever they did was merely to provide services to motorists.

He had also spoken out on issues faced by motorcyclists and the safety measures they should take.
