“The whole day has gone on with people badgering me,” he told FMT today.
“I am home with my kids, and I’ve heard and read of stuff which is psychotic and horrible. People have been very cruel and I am trying to find out why.”
Jason had since explained that he was sent to a police lock-up after a scuffle with an undercover policeman at the Dubai International Airport last September.
As such, he said he had committed no crime.
“If I did something to warrant this, surely I’d be in a hole somewhere.”
He questioned a Harian Metro report which said an unnamed CEO of a telecommunication firm had been charged and sent to jail over possession of drugs.
“It’s Dubai. I don’t think people get out (of UAE) if charged with such things. No matter who you are friends with,” said the 43-year-old singer who is a close friend of Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
“I read some horror stories about people serving four years for a bit of marijuana. Scary.”
According to Harian Metro, Dubai police arrested the CEO shortly upon arrival at Dubai from Amsterdam, on Sep 18.
Checks by FMT revealed that Malaysian authorities were in the dark about the incident.
Hours after the news broke out, Jason admitted he was arrested in Dubai but denied it was over possession of drugs, or that he was charged and jailed.
“I landed in Dubai, at the airport my friend tries to stop a fight. Then he gets hit and I jump the guy who turns out to be an undercover cop,” Jason had told The Edge Markets news portal.
He said his time in lock-up was prolonged because the undercover cop failed to give his statement.
“It was horrible. Not as horrible as coming out and hearing rumours of being locked up for every other reason under the sun,” he had said yesterday.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun has confirmed that Jason was not held over drugs.
Jason today described rumours of his arrest as “bizarre and ridiculous”, but said he was not worried that the episode would hurt his credibility.
“Maybe you got the wrong CEO,” he added.
The arrest was reportedly on Sep 18, a day before Dubai hosted an annual telecommunication conference called “Telecoms World Middle East 2017”.
