Sabah Police Commissioner Ramli Din, who announced the arrest and seizure on Twitter, said the man had arrived here from Hong Kong on an AirAsia flight.
A Hong Kong immigration departure card, seized from the man, stated he was born in Pahang and had an address in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
The 35-year-old man’s backpack was scanned and found to contain four boxes of the cloned cards, supposedly issued by several banks.
The man, suspected to be a mule for a cloned credit card syndicate, was handed over to police for further investigations, said Ramli.
Two mobile phones, a Malaysian passport and two purchase receipts, issued by retail outlets at the Hong Kong International Airport, were also confiscated from the suspect.
