PETALING JAYA:
It’s not every day that you come across a man dressed as a suicide bomber in your apartment’s lift.

So, it is little wonder that residents at an apartment in Damansara Perdana here freaked out when they came face to face with a “suicide bomber” riding their lift last month.

However, it turns out that the man was wearing a costume for an early Halloween party on Oct 28. Halloween was on Oct 31.

“At 7.40pm, residents at an apartment in Damansara Perdana came across the man dressed as a suicide bomber.

“It was for a Halloween party and he was spotted riding the lift,” The Star Online quoted Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din as saying.

However, the man’s costume may have got him in hot water as a police report was lodged last Tuesday and police are now investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

Zani urged those with information about the individual to contact the police.

Bernama reported later that a suspect was arrested by the police today.

Zani Che Din said a resident at the condominium who encountered the man in the lift informed the police.

He said such attire was a sensitive issue to the general public after recent events had been linked to Islamic State militants.

The suspect in his 30s, believed to be a local Indian, is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
