PETALING JAYA:
Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) announced today that all work packages for the construction of elevated stations for the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) line have been awarded, with a total value of RM1.23 billion.

The SSP is the second line of the MRT, following the opening of the first line from Sungai Buloh to Kajang (SBK), which began operations in July.

In a statement today, MRT Corp said the six station work packages were awarded during the company’s one-stop procurement committee meetings, chaired by Second Finance Minister Johari Abdul Ghani in September and October.

MRT Corp CEO Shahril Mokhtar said the successful tenderers were selected on the basis of the best evaluated tender.

The companies were gauged on their technical, commercial, legal, financial and “industrial collaboration programme” records.

“For companies which have just gotten on board, the Klang Valley MRT Project sets a high benchmark in the construction industry,” he said.

“I hope you will be able to learn quickly as you carry out your tasks with close guidance from MRT Corp and the project delivery partner,” he added.

The construction of the SSP line was launched in September last year by Prime Minister Najib Razak.

It is expected to be completed by July 2022, with the first phase operational by July 2021.

Najib had said in August that the SSP line would benefit two million residents, staying along the line from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya.

He said research had shown the 52.2km line, with 37 stations, would shuttle some 529,000 commuters on a daily basis.

MRT Corp said the package for the Kuchai Lama and Taman Naga elevated stations was given to WCT Bhd with a contract sum of RM199.5 million.

The package for the Sungai Besi and Serdang Raya North stations went to Apex Communication Bhd at a cost of RM243.34 million.

Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd won the package for the Serdang Raya South, Seri Kembangan and UPM elevated stations, costing RM288.47 million.

SN Akmida Sdn Bhd was given the package for Equine Park and Taman Putra Permai, costing RM219.7 million.

Meanwhile, Acre Works Sdn Bhd was awarded the package for 16 Sierra and Cyberjaya North stations costing RM137.9 million.

Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) was the successful tenderer for the Cyberjaya City Centre and Putrajaya Sentral stations at a cost of RM145.8 million.
