SUNGAI BULOH: A contractor is demanding that the authorities re-open investigations into the death of his son, an inmate at the Sungai Buloh Prison, who died at the hospital here last Monday from a chest infection.

Ong Ah Chew, 61, said he was shocked when the Sungai Buloh Prison called him to inform him about his son’s death.

He said his son, Ong Kok Leong, 34, had been in prison since 2012 after he was sentenced to eight years’ jail for a drug-related offence.

Ah Chew said he last visited his son in August and Kok Leong had seemed healthy.

Ah Chew said there was also no mention by the prison authorities that his son was ill or suffering from any illnesses.

“But when I went to Sungai Buloh Hospital, I was informed that my son died due to a chest infection,” he told reporters after lodging a report at the Sungai Pelong police station here today.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt S Somu confirmed a report had been lodged.
