Johor state secretary Azmi Rohani said the move would be made out of respect for the sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, as well as to appreciate the Southern Tigers’ determination to bring home the trophy.
“If JDT manage to win, the declaration will be made to thank the players and supporters for helping bring back the title for the first time in 25 years.
“It is also a tribute to the support given by the people of Johor to JDT, allowing it create success after success so far,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the sultan wanted people to be informed about the declaration earlier, to make it easier for them to make arrangements beforehand as Sunday is a work day in Johor.
Azmi also called on Johor football fans to head to the Shah Alam stadium this Saturday to give their full support to the JDT team.
