Penang State Secretary Farizan Darus said the body of Yuan Kuok Wen, 27, was the last to be spotted by rescue workers at the site.
He said Yuan’s body was discovered pinned down by a fallen pillar at about 9.30am, adding that it would take another hour or so for it to be extricated.
“Ten minutes before that, rescue workers found the body of a Bangladeshi man by the name of Mohd Monirol.
“I was made to understand that the rescue workers are doing their best to extricate Yuan’s body,” Farizan told reporters at the site here today.
In the 8.50am incident on Saturday, 14 workers at a condominium construction site were reportedly buried by collapsed earth due to a landslide from an adjoining hill slope.
The number of victims was subsequently revised to 11, with three others escaping with minor injuries.
The full list of the 11 dead are as follows: Yunus (Bangladeshi), Huseinma (Bangladeshi), Rahman Abdur (Bangladeshi), Md Nur Alam (Bangladeshi), Mohd Monirol (Bangladeshi), Mohd Elyas (Myanmar), Rahmatullah Mohd Sidiq (Myanmar), Hosrin (Indonesian), Erwin (Indonesian), Raza Ali (Pakistani) and Yuan (Malaysian).
A total of 84 firemen and 21 Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) members have been working in search and rescue efforts.
Nine urban disaster and cadaver discipline trained dogs from the Fire and Rescue Department and SMART team were also deployed in the search for bodies.
The Penang government will form a state Commission of Inquiry into the incident to ascertain its cause.
