Magistrate Rahimah Rahim allowed the application of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to detain the 36-year-old policewoman until Oct 23.
The application was filed by MACC prosecution officer, Mohd Khairi Abdul Karim.
It is believed that the policewoman had received RM1,200 from a drug addict to close his case (of administering drug into his body) from being charged in court, at 3 pm yesterday.
It is understood, the policewoman had demanded RM1,300 from the drug addict but had given him a RM100 discount after meeting the latter, pocketing only RM1,200.
The policewoman had met the drug addict by a roadside and received the bribe in her Grand Livina car when MACC officers conducted a raid and found the cash on the policewoman.
The woman, who was represented by lawyer, Rajindar Singh, is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009 for soliciting and receiving a bribe.
Earlier, the suspect, who wore a black and red ‘baju kurung’, was brought by MACC officers to the court, arriving in the compound of the court at 10.25 am.
