
Magistrate Atikah Abu Hassan allowed the 40-year-old woman to be freed on RM50,000 bail with two sureties.
The woman, who is a now a division secretary of another ministry, was remanded for six days from Oct 6, after which her remand was extended by six days until yesterday.
The woman was among eight individuals detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the misappropriation of funds for rural projects amounting to RM180 million, which is part of the RM1.5 billion embezzled from a ministry.
The RM1.5 billion was part of the federal government’s allocations for the ministry totalling RM7.5 billion to implement rural projects in Sabah from 2009 to 2015.
