PETALING JAYA: Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun has confirmed that the 18-year-old boy arrested last week for making a bomb was one of three terror suspects who had been targeting various locations including the beer festival.

Fuzi told The Star that the trio, who were detained in Kelantan last Wednesday, had made improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and tested them for use against their intended targets.

Further details will be revealed at a press conference later today, he added.

The youth was one of several individuals nabbed for having terrorist links.

The Better Beer Festival 2017 was scheduled to take place this month at Publika Shopping Gallery. However, it was cancelled due to several reported reasons.

On Sept 18, the event’s organisers said they had been told by the authorities that the festival could not proceed as scheduled as it was “politically sensitive”.

On Sept 21, Fuzi said police had advised the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) against allowing the event due to security reasons.

He said police had received information on militants planning to sabotage the event.
