Guard stole computers from school and sold them at flea market

He was working as security guard at the school in Butterworth at the time.

BUTTERWORTH:
A secondary school guard has been charged with the theft of computers worth RM700 from a secondary school he worked at in Sungai Dua here last month.

Muhamad Syafiq Zainul Abidin, 23, pleaded guilty to two charges of breaking and entering, theft and dealing in stolen property at the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court here today.

Syafiq was accused of breaking, entering and theft at SMK Desa Murni, where he worked as a security guard on Aug 11.

He was then charged with selling the stolen items at the Rope Walk flea market at Taman Selat here on Aug 18.

Deputy public prosecutor Noor Syafina Mohd Radzuan prosecuted while the accused was not represented.

Magistrate Sri Pracha Nanthini Balabedha then ordered Syafiq to pay a fine of RM3,500 or four months’ jail on the first charge and a fine of RM2,500 or three months’ jail on the second charge.
