Proton’s Ahmad Fuaad to become Malakoff CEO

The appointment of Ahmad Fuaad Mohd Kenali will be effective from Oct 1.

Outgoing Proton Holdings Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Ahmad Fuaad Mohd Kenali is set to take over as CEO of Malakoff Corp Bhd next month.

The appointment will be effective from Oct 1, the New Straits Times reported.

Malakoff’s Habib Husin, who was appointed acting CEO on June 20 following the resignation of managing director Azhar Abdul Hamid, will retain his position as executive vice-president of operations.

Ahmad Fuaad was appointed CEO and executive director of Proton on April 1 last year. Before that, he served as chief operating officer of finance and corporate and chief financial officer of DRB-Hicom Bhd. He was also a member of its management board.

He was with Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd from August 2010 until July 2013, and before that with Ernst & Young from 2008 until 2010.

Ahmad Fuaad holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computerised Accountancy from the University of East Anglia, UK. He also holds a BTEC National Diploma in Business and Finance from Brighton College of Technology, UK.

He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has been a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 2000.
