GEORGE TOWN:
A Bangladeshi man died after he was stabbed by a countryman with a kitchen knife in a quarrel over the ownership of an electrical socket extender at their quarters in Nibong Tebal today.

In the 2.30pm incident, the 22-year-old victim, identified as Siraz, was stabbed by his housemate, aged 30.

South Seberang Perai district police chief Supt Abdul Shafee Abdul Ahmad said the quarrel began when Siraz, a construction worker, was packing his belongings to move out from the quarters in Kampung Selamat.

Shafee said while packing up, Siraz took a multi-gang extension socket that apparently belonged to his housemate.

The two argued over the ownership of the socket extender and Siraz was then stabbed.

He ran ran out of the house but collapsed unconscious moments later outside the porch.

A neighbour alerted the police and Siraz’s attacker was arrested.

Shafee said Siraz’s body was taken to the Sungai Bakap Hospital for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated for murder.
