Police have detained another man over the murder of a policeman at the Pinggiran USJ police station on Thursday.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmad said the 35-year-old suspect from Kelantan, who worked for a courier company, was picked up in Subang Jaya at about 11.15pm yesterday.

“The suspect is being remanded for seven days until next Tuesday,” he said in a statement.

Lance Corporal Valentino Mesa, 29, of Sarawak, was found dead at the enquiry counter of the Pinggiran USJ police station at 3.25am on the day of the incident.

A patrol unit that returned to the station found him lying prone at the counter where he had been on duty alone.

He was shot in the head at close range and was stabbed as well.

Prior to this, police arrested a 34-year-old man from Sibu the next day to assist in the investigation. His remand order will end tomorrow.
