PUTRAJAYA:
Police are receiving about 200 calls daily from members of the public enquiring whether their vehicles have been issued with traffic summonses.

The enquiries were made after they received calls from an individual claiming to be from the Putrajaya police station seeking payment to be made to a bank account to settle the matter.

Putrajaya district police chief ACP Rosly Hassan advised members of the public who received such calls to inform the police immediately.

He said from the information received, these “policemen” from Putrajaya instructed their chosen victims to bank in a specified amount of money to settle their traffic summonses.

Rosly said a report had to be lodged before police could open any investigation paper on the conmen.

Police have not been able to trace the bank account since no report has been lodged, he told reporters at a slaughtering of cows event for the Aidiladha “korban” (sacrifice) here today.
