The body of 21-year-old Huang Qingfe of Zhejing, China, was found by a search-and-rescue team at 11.10am about 100 metres from the place he was last seen in the water.
He was reportedly bathing in Tanjung Tengah with a friend at about 5pm yesterday and went missing five minutes later when he was alone.
Following a report made by the friend, a search was launched by a team of officers and men from the Pulau Redang police station and resort workers.
The area of the search was expanded with the assistance of the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency and Civil Defence Force at 3.45am.
Kuala Terengganu police deputy chief Supt Suffian Sulaiman, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
He said Huang’s body was sent to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for a post-mortem before it was handed over to the family.
