PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said this was in spite of a spate of announcements made by Najib, such as those on the opening of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) service and the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB).
He claimed these announcements did not have much impact on voters.
“It takes a lot more to improve economic sentiments. I would like to warn Najib that he has a lot to cover.
“For instance, the public did not believe what he said about the RM2.6 billion donation found in his personal accounts.
“Over time, many other announcements by the government will lose their credibility and will not have the desired effect on the public,” he said at a press conference today to announce the findings of a recent survey by Invoke.
The interactive phone survey, held for a month from June 10 to July 14, focused on the country’s economic environment, cost of living and rising cost of goods.
Of the 3,783 who took part in the survey, Malays made up 59%, Chinese 26%, Bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak 8% and Indians 7%.
Najib had announced the launch of Phase Two of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang (MRT SBK) line here last month, calling the line a game-changer which would bring drastic changes to the lives of Malaysians and tourists.
He also launched the blueprint with specific targets and policies to help Indians in April. It is an official government document for the development of the Indian community over the next 10 years.
