Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said remand would be requested for the suspects, aged between 20 and 30, who were picked up by police yesterday, The Star reported.
He told the daily that police are also looking for several other people to assist in the investigation.
“We are also investigating the rioting aspect as well as the use of flares during the fracas,” he was quoted as saying.
The forum on Sunday came to an abrupt end after projectiles, including one laced with chemicals, were hurled at PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who had just finished answering a question from the floor.
Violence ensued as supporters rushed to the stage to protect the 92-year-old former prime minister.
Three youths aged between 17 and 19 were subsequently arrested after being detained by PPBM members.
They were remanded for four days yesterday to facilitate police investigations.
When asked about reports that the youths were paid RM50 to attend the forum, Fadzil said police were still investigating.
