Its deputy president, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said in the event PAS wins Putrajaya, government agencies could quickly sabotage that victory.
“Build a good reputation with them, become close friends with them so that it will be easier for them to adapt to us if we win Putrajaya.”
He was speaking to those in attendance at the PAS president’s key address for Selangor PAS at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) auditorium here today.
He said establishing these close ties was also important because there was not much time to prove to the people that PAS was the right choice when it comes into power.
“We have five years and if we don’t prove ourselves within that timeframe then we will get voted out.
“For the first two years, we will be thrust into the dirt that Umno has left behind. So that leaves us three years. What will help us save time is if we don’t have to fight with our own agencies.
“Getting close to the civil servants – including the police and army – will also help us learn the different departments’ structures and where they are heading.”
He said it was also important for PAS to recruit more professionals into the party as Islam’s enemies were becoming increasingly successful in destroying the image of Muslim leaders.
“We need an icon for the people. When our ulama are being criticised and insulted, people start losing trust in the ulama.
“Therefore, we also need leaders from different fields, including the academic and corporate fields.”
