A team of officers from the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) raided the warehouse in Jalan Juru at about 3.30pm on Wednesday, reported The Star.
Federal CCID director Commissioner Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the warehouse was suspected to be the headquarters of the syndicate forging Touch ‘n Go cards.
“Five syndicate members, including an Indonesian, have been arrested,” he said, adding that the suspects had been remanded for four days.
Acryl Sani said 264 fake Touch ‘n Go cards, estimated to be worth RM200,000, were seized during the raid.
He said police also seized three laptops, 10 smartphones, 13 key tags, one Proxmark software unit, one computer and two cars.
“The syndicate has been operating for three months and has raked in RM500,000 in profits,” he said.
The syndicate is believed to have forged the cards with top-up values between RM100 and RM1,000 and sold the fake cards to customers at 20% to 30% below the stored value.
Acryl Sani said the case was being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating as well as Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
