JOHOR BAHRU:
A seven-month-old baby girl died of severe head injuries after being hit by debris from a collapsed wall at her home in Jalan Mesra 2, Kampung Pasir Putih, near Pasir Gudang, today.

Johor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said Nurul Ain Farisha Md Zainuddin was pronounced dead at the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI), about an hour after the incident.

“In the 8.30am incident, the victim was in the living room of her family home while her mother went to the front door to send her husband to work.

“At that time, the victim’s mother saw a Hyundai Matrix car slowly entering her house compound before it suddenly revved up and surged forward, hitting the husband’s motorcycle and slamming into the wall of the house,” he said.

Dzulkhairi said the impact caused debris from the wall to fall onto the victim’s body.

He said Nurul Ain Farisha was rushed to hospital by her father and was pronounced dead at about 9.45am due to serious head injuries.

He said initial investigations found that the 40-year-old female driver had mistakenly slammed the accelerator pedal of the automatic transmission car before she could change it to the reverse gear.

The driver has been detained for further investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he said.
