TAWAU:
The district police are investigating a teacher who allegedly injured a 10-year-old pupil while disciplining her at a school here.

The 32-year-old teacher is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt, Tawau police chief ACP Fadil Marsus told FMT.

A 56-year-old housewife made a police report here on Tuesday, alleging that her daughter’s calf had been injured on Monday.

“She said the teacher kicked and slapped her daughter because she was late to school and did not do her homework,” Fadil said.

The mother reportedly said the teacher, a father of two, and the school headmaster had apologised.

However, she was still not satisfied and demanded that the Education Department take action against the teacher.

After complaining of pain in her leg and being unable to stand up, the girl was taken to a hospital where doctors, suspecting her leg to be fractured, put a cast on it. The cast was removed after an X-ray was taken.

“We are investigating the case and are taking statements from all concerned parties,” Fadil said.
