PUTRAJAYA:
Malaysia has condemned the launch of a ballistic missile on July 4 by North Korea and strongly urges the country to fulfil all its international obligations in the interest of international peace and security.

Wisma Putra, in a statement today, said Malaysia called for the immediate resumption of dialogue and negotiations between North Korea and the relevant parties, with a view to finding a peaceful resolution to the situation in the Korean Peninsula.

“DPRK’s persistent refusal to comply with its international obligations as prescribed under the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions is a cause for great concern in the context of international peace and security.”

Wisma Putra said North Korea’s flagrant violation of these resolutions seriously undermined the global nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime.

It added that North Korea’s actions could further aggravate the already tense situation in the Korean Peninsula.
