Hisham orders detailed probe into Hawk 108 crash

Defence minister also expresses his condolences to the families of the two pilots killed in the crash.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has directed the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) to carry out a detailed investigation into the incident involving the Hawk 108 jet fighter crash that killed the aircraft’s two pilots.

“I have directed @airforcenextgen to carry out a detailed investigation immediately to determine the cause of the #Hawk108 crash,” Hishammuddin said on his Twitter account.

“May the souls of both pilots be blessed by Allah SWT. Al-Fatihan #Hawk108.”

Hishammuddin also expressed his condolences to the families of the pilots.

The Hawk 108 jet fighter, which was reported lost this morning, is believed to have crashed in a swamp forest in Chukai, Terengganu, this afternoon.

The bodies of both pilots, Major Yazmi Mohamed Yusof, 39, and Major Hasri Zahari, 31, were found at 2.30pm, about 53km from the Kuantan RMAF Base.
