
Its minister, Idris Jusoh, said the ministry’s secretary-general, Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, was directed to carry out a survey of the Park recently to assess its potential.
The Knowledge Park, which was developed under the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) development project on a 280ha site at a cost of about RM300 million, was built in 2004.
However, the project was abandoned after a few years, and in 2012, was revived with the construction of a hostel, student centre complex, convocation hall, sports complex and mini-stadium.
According to Idris, various plans have been made for the 1,300 UniSZA, Tembila campus students to benefit from several facilities at the Knowledge Park as it was located next to the university.
In another development, Idris said three universities in Terengganu and Kelantan, namely UniSZA, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) would be assisted to improve their performance in various fields of specialisation.
